Adam Elliot - Harvie Krumpet

Students to watch sections of the movie Harvie Krumpet and Adam Elliot - 'Uncle' and take notes on their blog.

Students brainstorm the role of the narrator in storytelling and focus on the way they can speed up a story by providing extra information.

Here are some questions to get you started -

  • What is the narrator’s role?
The narrator's role is to provide and explain an explanation of what is happening in a movie, tv show or play.
  • Why is the narrator important?
The narrator is important because without the narrator, some stories would make no sense. For example, Adam Elliot - ‘Uncle’ would make little sense if there was no narrator.
  • How can a narrator help in a film?
A narrator can help in a film because it can provide the audience with an explanation of what is going on, therefore allowing them to understand and follow the story/play/movie.
  • What is ‘clayography’?
The term ‘clayography’ was created by Adam Elliot himself. He created as a way to describe his unique animation style which he struggled to describe. Clayography is stop animations created using clay or plasticine. E.g Wallace and Gromit, Adam Elliot's - ‘Uncle’
  • What kind of narrator could you have in your own stop motion?
The kind of narrator I could have in my stop motion is Omniscient. Our stop motion should be able to tell a story with minimal help from a narrator unlike other stories like Adam Elliot’s ‘Uncle’ which in my opinion requires one to tell the story effectively.
Five interesting facts about Adam Elliot:
