PART A Progress Submission

PART A Progress Submission
My chosen inspiring artist is Max Dupain who focuses largely on architecture in his work, as well as black and white photography. I am using his work as inspiration and producing architecture based photographs of interesting and intriguing modern-day architecture. With my work, I plan to focus on the newly opened North West Sydney Metro stations. I am very intrigued by the architecture of the stations, and the colored glass and lights which create a very futuristic and interesting photograph. With the use of perspective, I will produce a cohesive and eye-catching image which utilizes the interesting shapes and lights which are in use at the stations. My station of cho.ice is the Showground station. This station has the noticeable and uniquely shaped cover over the top which adds to the potential of my images. With the project, I aim to capture the essence of the station and as a whole, represent the developing hills district and how we are becoming our own, big and futuristic city.

  1. Try to avoid standing height when taking photographs - they appear to be snapshots and don't reflect the interesting/innovative angles of Dupain. Also, locally the rain station represents recent architecture forms within our local world. Make this a focus of your photography this weekend.

  2. Dramatic shadows are used by Dupain to highlight the geometrical nature of his compositions. Your 'dark areas' are not as convincing. They have not captured sharp geometric lines. At this point in time, your photographs are not aesthetically pleasing. Technically, they are both over and underexposed at differing times.
